Vermont is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States of America. It is the only New England state not bordering the Atlantic Ocean, and the only landlocked state in the northeast. Lake Champlain forms half of Vermont's western border with the state of New York and the Green Mountains run north–south the length of the state. The state is also known for being home to over 100 19th-century covered bridges, and as a major producer of maple syrup.
